Elegantly Romantic Dorfold Hall Wedding

REAL WEDDING – JESSICA AND PHILLIP

ROMANTIC AND ELEGANT WAS THE VISION FROM THE START FOR THIS DORFOLD HALL WEDDING.

A DAY FILLED WITH SOFT WHITES AND PINK HUES. AN ABUNDANCE OF CASCADING FLOWERS, GREAT FOOD AND ALL THEIR LOVED ONES BROUGHT TOGETHER TO CELEBRATE.

I first met Jessica, interior designer and owner of Margot and Moss in late 2021 when she asked me to design their Save the Dates. From the moment we first chatted, I knew that Jessica and Phillip’s wedding was going to be the most beautiful and amazing day. I couldn’t wait to start designing their stationery.

Dorfold Hall

Jessica and Phillip fell in love with their venue, Dorfold Hall in Cheshire on their first visit. Driving down the tree-lined avenue to be met with the beautiful 17th Century Home Stately home, they knew, “this is it!”. The ideal venue had an elegant mix and juxtaposition of the original historic building and the new contemporary L’ecurie, (French for stables) that was built on the footprint of the original site of the stables, and the place they would host their reception.

Elegant details of the wedding invitations

With Jessica’s background in interior design, she knew the importance of how small details can bring your vision to life and keep everything cohesive.

The brief for Jessica and Phillips’s wedding stationery was to keep the design simple and elegant, with the subtle colour palette of soft whites, a hint of pale dusty pink and a delicate touch of gold.

Taking influence from their talented and award winning florist Joseph Massie I illustrated a very simple motif of florals that were used to encase the elegantly designed emblem motif of the couple’s initials together.

To personalise and capture the essence of their day, we combined the floral elements with a delicate line drawing of their wedding venue to create fine art wedding invitations. Finished, with feather soft hand torn edges, on part recycled luxurious cotton paper. The invitation, details card and rsvp were carefully wrapped in a vellum layer, tied with the finest of white paper twine from Austria and sealed with an antique gold wax seal. Before being popped into a pale dusty pink envelope.

On the Day stationery

Good food was a non-negotiable for Jessica and Phillip. Both big foodies and Jessica becoming a recent vegetarian, they knew food was an important element of their day. Not only for themselves but to share with their guests as they celebrated their first meal together as a married couple.

With a wedding breakfast uniquely designed by the The Cheshire Dining Experience that Jessica described as a “work of art”, they wanted to present each guest with a personalised menu.

Each guest received a personalise menu with their meal of choice printed on the same luxurious soft cotton mixed paper as their invitations. Each one was adorned with their guests’ names on a soft vellum and sealed with a botanical golden wax seal that featured on their wedding invitation.

As the wedding breakfast was a special part of their day, Jessica and Phillip wanted to show their guests to their seats in the most exquisite way. Using a Vintage Gold Framed mirror, I designed individual table plan cards that were carefully adhered with coordinating antique wax seals.

“When seeing the cards in the flesh for the first time, I was absolutely delighted - and so thankful to Simone for bringing my vision to life”

Special thank you to Jessica

When working with couples as their stationery designer I can often be collaborating with them for nearly a year, as we create save-the-dates, invitations, on-the-day items and thank-you cards.

It has been such a pleasure getting to know both Jessica and Phillip and meeting them both over zoom and in person. Getting to know my couples is a highlight of my job and one of my favourite elements. I want to personally thank Jessica for sharing photos and details of her wedding day with me. Taking the time to sit down and chat with me to relive all her favourite moments of their wedding. From walking out of the coach house, showered by confetti after exchanging their vows. To share details of the fun and joy they both had whilst getting ready at Dorfold Hall with the groom and bridal parties.

It really has been hard to edit our conversation and the gorgeous image gallery from photographer Lee Allen into a short blog piece. With so many beautiful elements I wanted to share it all.
