“Great guide. Really helps with how to plan and write your own invites”

You’ve chosen your venue and booked your wedding date. Now it’s time to start thinking about your wedding stationery. Your guide to Wedding Stationery is here to help that first question nearly every couple asks  “Where do I start?”

So where do you start?

It’s normal to feel overwhelmed at the beginning. By chatting to you about your wedding vision and any concerns, I can gather an early insight into your wedding style. We can discuss all your stationery needs and guide you through my stress-free process. Follow ‘Your guide to Wedding Stationery’ to help you answer all those questions you may be afraid to ask.

What style do I want

What style do I want?

No doubt once you said yes, you have been busy on Pinterest selecting all those gorgeous images. From doing this you will have already started creating a mood board. Together we can look through this, discuss your venue type, the colour of flowers you have selected and what kind of vibe you want your wedding day to be. You may have chosen something relaxed, or a more formal event is your thing. You will be surprised from all this information I can get a real feel for what type and style of stationery will be perfect for your day.

What is the difference between bespoke and semi-custom designs?

Semi-custom design – is a wonderful budget-friendly option of pre-designed stationery that can be tailored to your wedding with your own wedding details.

Bespoke design – is unique to you and your wedding day, from the initial illustrations to the style of items you order.

What items do I need?

There is no right or wrong in what items you need to print for your wedding. Every wedding is different, so what works for your best friend’s wedding may not work for yours. Here is just a guide to some elements you could have;

• Save the date
• Day invitation
• Evening invitation
• Information/detail card
• RSVP
• Order of service/day
• Signage – welcome board/order of the day
• Table plan
• Menus
• Place names
• Favours
• Thank you cards

What information do I need?

When contacting your stationer, the information you will need is the following;

• Date of wedding
• Wedding venue
• Time of wedding
• Time of evening reception
• RSVP date
• Other details, such as accommodation, transportation, gifts, etc., can be included on your information card.

When should I order my stationery

When should I order my stationery?

It is important to allow time for the creation, printing and delivery of your stationery. If you want to speed up the process, it always helps if you supply your information quickly and reply to any emails promptly. Here is an approximate guide to production timings:

Save the Date  – 4 weeks
House Designs – 4-6 weeks
Bespoke Designs – 8-10 weeks
On the Day Stationery – 4-8 weeks
Thank you cards – 4 weeks

How many should I order?

It may not be as many as you think. The general rule of thumb for save-the-date and wedding invitations is one per household. It’s always a good idea to order a few extra spares for any last-minute changes, mistakes and keepsakes for your memory box.

When should I send my stationery?

There are no set rules, but if you are having a destination wedding or your date is at a popular time of year, it is best to give your guests a little more notice.

Save the Date – 9-18 months before
Invitations – 2-8 months before
